A new community strategy for Scottish cricket

Cricket Scotland has launched 'All Together Better', its new, stand-alone, three-year Community Strategy, which aims to build on the principles set down in its 'On the Front Foot' document of 2007.

It follows a six-month consultation exercise with the clubs and other interested parties. More than 160 people took part in the consultation, and the new strategy reflects their views and input, ranging from an expansion of schools cricket to regional Twenty20 leagues - and everything in between and around these ideas.

The strategy is built around the key themes of:

  • increasing the number and quality of everyone playing cricket
  • ensuring a strong network of sustainable vlubs for all players, coaches and volunteers
  • providing quality training and development opportunities for those who support our sport

Steve Paige, the head of community development for Cricket Scotland, says: "This is not a strategy for Cricket Scotland to deliver in isolation, but one that the cricketing community needs to work together to develop."

Chief executive Roddy Smith adds: "Cricket clubs are at the heart of community development, and we will work with them to promote a whole club approach."

  • It is anticipated that most people who agree with the need to pursue these ideals for Scottish cricket will wish to read the strategy in its entirety. It can be downloaded HERE
