Girls' and Women's Development Officer.

Cricket Scotland is pleased to announce the appointment of Lea Tsui to the newly created role of Girls' and Women’s Development Officer. Lea will take up her position on 23 March and will join the ever growing Community Development Team as Cricket Scotland’s first ever dedicated officer for the girls’ and women’s game.

Lea is currently studying at Edinburgh University and will combine her studies with the two-days-a-week post. An active Level 2 coach, Lea currently coaches with Edinburgh City Council, the Cricket Scotland Girls’ Development Centre as well as at her Club, Murrayfield DAFS CC.

Steve Paige, Head of Community Development commented: “I’m delighted that Lea has joined the team and will provide an added drive for the development of girls’ and women’s cricket across Scotland”.

“The focus of the post is to increase the number of girls playing the game at all levels, recruiting more females into coaching and leadership roles and importantly strengthening the numbers of girls within Clubs. I know Lea is excited by the post and is looking forward to working with the cricketing community to drive up participation levels and the profile of female cricket”.

Funding for the post has been provided by ICC Europe, which recently acclaimed Cricket Scotland with The Best Cricket Development Programme at the Pepsi ICC Development Programme Awards (Europe).

Richard Holdsworth, ICC Regional Development Manager - Europe, said: "This new initiative shows the commitment Cricket Scotland has to further developing the girls and women's game in the country.

“This inaugural position reflects the way the women's game has dramatically grown in recent years across Europe and ICC Europe is pleased to financially support the role which will help provide more opportunities for young females to get involved in this great game, helping increase participation as well as providing better coaching programmes for more established girls".
