CS Tapeball to Launch with New Sponsors

“Cricket Scotland are delighted to announce the start date of their premier Tapeball competition in Glasgow on Sunday 18th November. With new sponsors and upgraded equipment the second edition promises to be just as exciting as the first following the same format of two groups of six teams battling it out over ten matches before the knockout stages begin. The rules have been tweaked slightly to encourage a faster game and the format now has everything for batters, bowlers and fielders as well as engaging all ages of participants.”

Cricket Scotland’s community engagement co-ordinator Ammar Ashraf quoted “Once again we have raised the profile of the game and have offered playing opportunities outwith the conventional structure. I believe that by offering an adapted form of the game which has been led by community discussions places us in a strong position to understanding communities better. The appetite to participate in the 2nd edition remains strong and with new sponsors and new teams we are very excited about the league in year two. Last years tournament had a positive effect in the community and increased levels of participation and physical activity which was evidenced by an increase in senior and junior members in the Western District Cricket Leagues.”

Main sponsors, Indi Singh & Cook Grill from the chain of Cook & Indi restaurants said “We love cricket so it is nice to give something back to the community and we are delighted to be this year’s shirt sponsors. We advertise nationally and when this opportunity arose we took it with open arms. It’s great to see a league over the winter months especially for those who want to get back into the game, I think this is a great sporting and commercial opportunity, happy to be part of it.”

Helenor Landsburgh MA (Hons) PGCE PGCRe, Head of Brand Management and Multimedia at Glasgow Caledonian University quoted “As the University for the common good, Glasgow Caledonian University are delighted to support Cricket Scotland’s Tapeball league. This builds on the University’s community engagement partnership with Cricket Scotland to engage with black and minority ethnic (BME), migrant and refugee communities and GCU’s diverse student body through cricket.”
