Dan Sutton and Andy Tennant join coaching set up

Following an open and robust recruitment process, two new Cricket Scotland coaches have been appointed.

Andy Tennant takes up the role of Interim Men’s National Performance Coach and Interim Women’s Assistant Coach, while Dan Sutton has been appointed the National Men’s u19s Head Coach.

An ECB Level 4 coach, Andy Tennant has a wealth of experience in both the men’s and women’s game and in positions across multiple sports at a national level.

The Interim Men’s National Performance Coach position backfills some of the responsibilities of Interim Head of Performance Toby Bailey’s previous role and provides a programme for players coming through the pathway to play Performance Academy and A-Team Cricket.

Andy’s time as Interim Women’s Assistant coach will be spent supporting the Interim Women’s Head Coach Peter Ross for what is set to be an important summer for the women’s team ahead of World Cup qualification in September.

New National Men’s u19s Head Coach Dan Sutton is the current Director of Cricket at Aberdeenshire Cricket Club and brings a vast amount of previous Head Coach experience at international and regional levels.

Having continually developed his performance coaching over the years, Dan’s person-first approach and cricketing knowledge saw him successfully appointed to the role. He will lead the current u17s cohort to the European u19s World Cup qualifier at the end of summer 2023.

Interim Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, John Lunn, said: “Cricket Scotland continues to promote, grow, support and govern Scottish cricket at all levels and bringing in experienced and committed coaches allow us to continue to develop the performance and pathway elements of the sport so we can see the sport and its players thrive.

“Interim roles are in place to allow the organisation to fill immediate gaps within the team. Permanent positions will be reviewed in line with recommendations from the independent review into racism in Scottish cricket and the recruitment of a permanent CEO and Chair.”
