Biography

David Murphy profileIn October 2012, Murphy signed a new two year contract in response to Niall O'Brien's impending move to Leicestershire. It is planned that Murphy would become Northants' first choice keeper from the 2013 season.

In September 2012, Murphy was selected by Scotland to be part of a tour group to South Africa in October 2012. Although born in Hertfordshire, Murphy qualifies to play for Scotland by having a Scottish parent.

He has had an impressive 2013 for both club and country. It was a year that would see Northants win the Friends Life t20 competition and also the LV= Division One Country Championship.

Since his debut in early 2013 against Afghanistan, Murphy has been an integral part of the Scotland set-up and is the number one wicket-keeper.

His work standing up to the stumps has particularly caught the eye during his Scotland carrer. He is also an aggresive middle-order batsman.
