Carlton and Stirling Earn Indoor Wins
Carlton & Stirling emerge winners of the second instalment of the women’s indoor sixes series.
Indoor cricket is hugely popular with demand increasing with the continued development of the women’s game in Scotland. Ten teams played at two indoor venues on the 15th February.
Carlton, Edinburgh University, St. Boswells, Galloway, Castle Douglas High School & Watsonians played at Loretto whilst Stirling County, Glasgow Accies, Ayr and St. Andrews University battled it out at the indoor sports hall at Grangemouth Sports Complex.
The Loretto tournament was competitive with a fine mix of youth and experience on show. Domestic double winners Carlton were looking to start 2015 with a bang and win their first silverware of the season but had strong opposition in Edinburgh University, St. Boswells, Galloway, Castle Douglas High School & Watsonians.
The group games gave all teams an opportunity to get back into cricket mode after the festive period! Carlton and Edinburgh University were to meet in the final and once Carlton got the early breakthrough the students
struggled to post a competitive total giving Carlton their first win of 2015.
Over at Grangmeouth the teams adopted a round robin format with all teams playing each other. The four teams
were in fine fettle ahead of the games. Some games were close in score and other weren’t but the enjoyment and enthusiasm never wavered.
Stirling County picked up their first silverware of 2015 by winning all their games.
