City honour Alan Barron with Service to Sport Award

The Aberdeen Sports Council’s Annual Sports Personality Awards Presentation took place at Curl Aberdeen, Lang Stracht, Aberdeen on Friday 18th October, and a good number of nominations were submitted for selection.

Alan Barron, one of north cricket’s well known stalwarts, has received an award by Aberdeen City Council after years of dedication to the sport. He was honoured with Aberdeen Sports Council Service to Sport Award.

Alan (pictured centre) has been involved in helping cricket growing in the Aberdeenshire area and can boast an impressive list of activities:

On being awarded the recognition Alan Barron said, “The reality of course being that I do not put back into our sport to get recognition or to take financial reward (more the opposite in reality) but to get fresh air and exercise in return for the years of enjoyment taken from the sport!”

The Annual Grades Dinner is scheduled for the Holiday Inn (Westhill) on Friday 1st November 2013 at 7:00pm for 7:30pm with guest Speaker Angus Fraser  (England & Middlesex).
