Citylets to Sponsor Scottish Cup in 2017
Cricket Scotland is delighted to announce that Citylets will continue its sponsorship of the Scottish Cup now in its 51st year.
First Round matches of this prestigious event will be played on Sunday 14 May 2017 with the Final being held at Forthill on 20 August 2017. The Forthill venue in Broughty Ferry is the home of Forfarshire Cricket Club and Cricket Scotland is very grateful that Forfarshire have agreed to host the Final for the very first time.
The Citylets Scottish Cup draw will see holders PSL Team Sports Clydesdale begin their attempt to retain the trophy with a tricky away tie at New Williamfield against Stirling County. Last year’s losing finalists Arbroath United have a difficult away tie in Edinburgh against Watsonian.
The draw throws up some intriguing local ties with Carlton travelling across Edinburgh to meet local rivals SMRH while in the West the all-Premiership tie between Ayr and Ashas East Kilbride looks like the tie of the Round.
The reward for the winners of the Preliminary Round match between Marchmont and Glasgow Accies is the visit of West Premiership side Ferguslie.
Citylets Managing Director Thomas Ashdown said “After the success of last year’s 50th anniversary Scottish Cup, Citylets is delighted to be supporting Cricket Scotland in our sponsorship of this flagship tournament. We are looking forward to seeing how the teams progress towards what will be a fantastic climax to the event on finals day on August 20th.”
Cricket Scotland CEO Malcolm Cannon added “The Citylets Scottish Cup has always proved to be the premier competition of the domestic season and we are delighted to see an increased entry in this event. We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Citylets as the main sponsor and we look forward to an exciting tournament.”
