Scottish Student SportThe national co-ordinating body for university and college sport, Scottish Student Sport, has announced its intention to pull together a Scottish Colleges XI. The Further Education representative side will take on a Scottish Universities Unicorns XI in Perth in April at the North Inch, the venue of Scotland’s first victory over a county side in 1985.

The trial match will aid selection for the full Scottish Students rep team ahead of the annual MCC match. MCC Scotland this year will be skippered by Andrew Brock, who captained Scottish Students to their Gilmour Sports Celtic Cup three-nil white wash series victory over Irish Universities at Trinity College, Dublin in June 2012.

The Scottish Colleges XI will be managed by former Vale of Leven CC bowler Barry Carmichael a sports lecturer at Dundee & Angus College “This is an exciting opportunity for FE students to showcase their cricketing talents, as well as raising the profile of cricket in FE colleges. We hope the trials will unearth some lads capable to progress into the Scottish Students team. We also hope to see interest grow in setting up new College clubs across the 13 regional colleges.”

Cricketers at college who wish to be considered for selection should email Barry on b.carmichael@dundeeandangus.ac.uk or speak to the head of your sports department who can put you in touch with Barry. Please note any indications of interest in being selected should be in NO LATER than 5pm on Thursday 27th March 2014.
