Cricket Scotland Appoints Official Media Relations Partner
Cricket Scotland, whose international team has qualified for the 2015 ICC World Cup, has appointed Scotland-based PR company, Spreng & Co, as its Official Media Relations Partner in the run-up to the event.
Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup, which will take place during February and March next year, is seen as a major opportunity to promote the sport of cricket in Scotland and, with the event taking place in New Zealand and Australia, to showcase Scottish cricket to an international audience.
Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, said:
“Scotland’s qualification for the biggest tournament in the sport is great for Scotland and for cricket. It’s already one of the most popular participation sports in Scotland and we plan to use this platform to show that cricket is a sport for everyone. What’s more, we want to use this opportunity to create a lasting legacy for cricket in Scotland.
“It’s also our chance to showcase Scotland and Scottish cricket to the rest of the world and Spreng & Co will help us to work with the media, both at home and at the event, to make the most of this opportunity.”
Callum Spreng, Managing Director of Spreng & Co, said:
“Scotland’s World Cup qualification is a fantastic achievement and our team is thrilled to be part of the next year of preparations with Cricket Scotland. Cricket Scotland’s relationship with the domestic and international media will be vital in ensuring that we capitalise on this opportunity for the benefit of the sport and for Scotland as a whole.”
The Cricket Scotland account will be run by PR Director, Kirstin Stevenson, who will work closely alongside Cricket Scotland Communications Manager, Ben Fox. The first international opportunity in the run-up to the World Cup is the one day international against England on 9th May in Aberdeen.
