CS and Nuffield extend partnership
Cricket Scotland and Nuffield Health to continue local power partnership.
Cricket Scotland is delighted to announce the extension of its relationship with Nuffield Health.
Through its Fitness and Wellbeing Centre in Edinburgh, the UK’s largest healthcare charity, provided fitness training facilities for elite Scottish players in 2013.
Having celebrated the end of its first year with victory at the Cricket World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand in January, the partnership has now been expanded to include Nuffield Health’s other clubs around Scotland.
This development will allow Cricket Scotland’s centrally contracted players to access the Nuffield facilities most local to them, in addition to continuing to use the Edinburgh club as their main training base.
In the year leading up to Scotland’s participation in the 2015 Cricket World Cup, in Australia and New Zealand, Nuffield Health is the Official Health Club Provider to Cricket Scotland.
A busy summer lies ahead for the national team, with series against Ireland, the Netherlands and New Zealand A as well as the Royal London ODI against England on Friday 09 May. The squad will also have access to both Aberdeen and Glasgow Fitness and Wellbeing Centres and will train at these sites when playing games locally.
Of the new partnership, Cricket Scotland Director of Cricket Andy Tennant said, “Having Nuffield Health on board in 2013 played a crucial role in getting our players to the Qualifier in optimal condition. We are delighted that Nuffield Health have extended and expanded their support as we look to put our preparations in place for the World Cup early next year.”
Tim Hyatt, General Manager at Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Centre Edinburgh said, “We are delighted to be continuing our support of Scotland’s elite cricket players in their pursuit and maintenance of optimum fitness and health. Scotland’s qualification was a marvellous way to round off the first year of our relationship, and we are excited about working together to prepare the squad for the 2015 World Cup.”
Scotland’s Royal London ODI against England is on Friday 09 May and is a sell-out.
