Drummond Appointed as Performance Pathway Manager

30 Jan

Cricket Scotland has today announced that Gordon Drummond has been appointed as Performance Pathway Manager with effect from 6 February 2017.

Drummond, who is already known to many in cricket circles, is an experienced, dedicated and passionate professional who has led Scotland on the field and has been heavily involved with coaching age-group teams off the field.

His role most recently was as Head Coach of the Scotland Under 19 team who competed in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh in early 2016.

Drummond accumulated 117 caps for Scotland, captaining the side for three years, in an international career which spanned over six years.

Malcolm Cannon, CEO at Cricket Scotland, said “We are delighted to have attracted someone of Gordon’s pedigree and passion for this very important role.

His recent role at Scottish Gymnastics has displayed his commitment to drive change in sports development and we look forward to Gordon making a difference in our own performance pathway.  His undoubted skills as a coach will continue to be put to good use with the U19 side but applying his organisational and programme development skills on a broader remit will benefit Scottish cricket.

This new appointment allows us to realign the critical path between talent identification and international representation and ensure all stakeholders are linked.  All the team at Cricket Scotland are very much looking forward to working with Gordon.”

Gordon Drummond said " Alongside my playing career, I have been involved in sporting development systems all my working life and I’m looking forward to using this experience to continue to push the sport of cricket forward in Scotland.”

“My time out of the cricket working with Scottish Gymnastics has been a fantastic learning experience and I’d like to thank the guys for the opportunity and support." He added.

“I'm really looking forward to taking up this new role with Cricket Scotland.  I see this post as being pivotal in supporting and creating the right performance environments for our young cricketers to flourish and become future Scotland stars.”
