Highlanders and Reivers go Dutch

15 Jul

Tuesday and Wednesday (16/17 July) will see the Netherlands and Scotland’s LiveSport.co.uk Pro Teams going head-to-head in both white ball formats of the game.

These games will hopefully be a forerunner for a future cross-border domestic pro team competition in Europe.

The Highlanders, under the Stewardship of Neil MacRae, travel to Amsterdam to play the North Holland Hurricanes. The Dutch leg of matches will take place at the ABN Amro International Cricket Centre in Amstelveen, with a Pro 50 match on Tuesday being followed by a T20 encounter on Wednesday.

Steve Knox’s Reivers team will take on the South Holland Seafarers, featuring Wesley Baressi, Peter Seelar and the Gruiters brothers on the same days at New Cambusdoon, Ayr.

The fifty over match will commence on Tuesday at 10.45, while the T20 on Wednesday has a 9.30am start. All four teams will be without their Under 19 players, who are preparing for the upcoming World Cup Qualifying Tournament in the Netherlands; however the teams will field strong sides with many established international players featuring at both venues.

The two Scottish squads for their respective matches are as follows:

Highlanders: Craig Wallace (wk, captain), Matthew Parker, Hamish Gardiner, Ewan Chalmers, Cameron Farrell, Henry Edwards, Jan Stander, Elton Willemse, Michael Leask, Gordon Goudie, Calvin Burnett, Gordon Drummond, George Munsey

Reivers:  Richie Berrington (captain), Calum Macleod, Moneeb Iqbal, Majid Haq, Neil Smith (w/k), Safyaan Sharif, Scott Beveridge, Stuart Chalmers, Kasim Farid, Peter Lojszczyk, Scott McElnea, HamzaTahir. .
