Paul Stirling drives through the coversDay 2 - Ireland v Scotland

Rain meant that a limited amount of play was possible on the second day of the Intercontinental Cup fixture between Ireland and Scotland in Clontarf, Dublin.

After Scotland had been dismissed for 138 on the first day Ireland made headway in the 21 overs that were possible to surpass their opponent’s first innings score.

Iain Wardlaw managed to remove the Irish captain William Porterfield LBW for 30, but Paul Stirling continued to impress and reached 50 as Ireland moved within 39 runs of the Scottish total.

An early lunch was taken after the rain started to fall, and continued throughout the afternoon until the umpires decided enough was enough and called stumps around 5pm.
