Mommsen and MacLeod Short-listed For Associate Player of the Year

05 Nov

Today the ICC announced that Scotland's Preston Mommsen and Calum MacLeod have been shortlisted for the ICC Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year award in the LG ICC Awards 2014.

The pair have been nominated along with Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Samiullah Shenwari for the award.

Mommsen helped Scotland to World Cup Qualification to the ICC 2015 World Cup with an impressive tournament in New Zealand in January 2014, scoring 520 runs in eight innings - and claiming Player of the Tournament.

Calum MacLeod after his innings

MacLeod, who has spent the season with Durham CCC, struck 175 runs from only 141 balls, in the same tournament against Canada on the 23rd January 2014, which included 14 fours and 5 sixes.

The record-breaking innings secured the highest ODI score by a Scottish batsman.

This year marks the 11th year of the LG ICC Awards, and the winners will be announced via a media release on 14 November, while a special TV show will be broadcast on 15 November. The show will recap the last year in world cricket and will feature interviews with many nominees and winners.
