Safyaan Sharif goes on trial at Gloucestershire

09 Jul

It has been announced that Safyaan Sharif will begin a 2 week loan spell with Gloucestershire this week.

The 23 year old all-rounder is a product of the Scottish youth system, with his first appearance in a Scotland shirt at under 15 level.

His best One Day International figures came during a 5 wicket win against the Netherlands in 2011 - when he claimed 4/27.

Sharif will play two second team matches this week, before coming up against Scotland ‘A’ next week. Gloucestershire have identified Sharif as a potential signing and will use this opportunity to look at the all-rounder.

Andy Tennant said, “We are always keen to push as many of our up and coming young players as possible into county cricket and this gives Gloucestershire the opportunity to look at Safyaan over the next couple of weeks. This is a great opportunity for him to show Gloucestershire what he can do. If he goes well, you never know where these things can lead to.”
