Scotland and Ireland to host 2015 ICC Twenty20 Qualifier

The ICC has confirmed that, subject to final agreement, Cricket Scotland and Cricket Ireland will jointly host the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier. The event will give the leading Associate members the opportunity to qualify for the 2016 World Twenty20 to be held in India.

The 2013 event, to take place this November  in the UAE will be a 16 team, 72 match competition and the 2015 event is anticipated to follow the same format.

Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland commented, ‘’This is fantastic news.  We are delighted that in conjunction with our colleagues at Cricket Ireland we have been selected by the ICC to host this prestigious event.  It will be a significant undertaking but we have a full two years to plan and ourselves and Cricket Ireland will start work on this immediately.’’
