Scotland announce T20Q and Ireland squads

08 Jun

Cricket Scotland have announced their 15-man squad for the ICC WT20 Qualifiers in July, which will be hosted in Scotland and Ireland, and also their squad for the warm up games against Ireland in Bready.

Preston Mommsen will have ten players who have represented Scotland at under 19 level at his disposal, as his team aim to Qualify for the T20 World Cup in India in 2016.

Craig Wallace has been included in the squad, along with hard-hitting George Munsey, as the pair have impressed the selectors with some strong performances, both domestically and in the North Sea Pro Series.

Head Coach Grant Bradburn commented, “It is so encouraging for Scotland to announce such a well-balanced, dynamic and strong T20 selection. A feature of the selections is the rewarding of performance at domestic level. George Munsey, Craig Wallace, Con de Lange and Mark Watt are all positive examples of Scottish based players who have forced selection through weight of performance in this format.

There is an exciting blend of dynamic skills throughout the squad, while as a team we have a simple goal of winning the T20 Qualifiers. As a group we are all excited to be the host nation with a great opportunity to showcase our skills at home in this format.”

Matt Machan was unavailable for selection due to committing to Sussex as his primary employer.
