Scotland 'A' defeat Northants/Kent 2XI

26 Aug

Scotland ‘A’ yesterday completed a victory over a Northant’s/Kent 2XI at Wantage Road, Northampton by 5 wickets. [Scorecard]

Matthew Cross (56*) and Safyaan Sharif (43*) were the main contributors to the second innings chase after being set 186 to win.

Craig Wallace added 25 to his first innings score of 60, while Owais Shah also played a steady hand with 31 before he fell with the score on 75/3.

Earlier a firey contribution from newly capped Chris Sole saw the pace-man return with 7 wickets from the match. Spinners Mark Watt and Harris Aslam also bowled with good control to ensure the final innings chase would be well within the Scots reach.

Cross and Sharif made light work of the chase with some crunching boundaries to give Scotland ‘A’ the win on the final afternoon of play with coach Grant Bradburn hailing the run out as “Excellent learning and a excellent win”
