Scotland A to take on Gloucestershire in 3 day encounter
Scotland 'A' will travel down to Thornbury Cricket Club in Bristol to play a three-day game against Gloucestershire’s 2XI, starting on Tuesday 26 July.
The squad features a number of experienced internationalists and will be led by Craig Wallace, who will also keep-wicket for the Scots.
National captain Preston Mommsen and former captain Kyle Coetzer are also named in the squad, along with front-line spinners Con de Lange and Mark Watt.
With a vital series against the United Arab Emirates in Aberdeen on the horizon, this fixture will help with preparations in the multi-day format ahead of Scotland’s Intercontinental Cup match.
There will be three faces in the squad who are yet to earn reprehensive honours, with Adrian Neill, Elliott Ruthven, Michael English and Chris Greaves looking to impress coaches Grant Bradburn and Simon Smith, who will take charge of the team.
Ahead of the game Scotland Head Coach Grant Bradburn said, "With precious few opportunities to play this summer, the next two weeks of 'A' team cricket will be vital for our squad to get back into multi day mode. Traditionally, the English second eleven fixtures are challenging high quality games on good pitches, so these are brilliant opportunities for players to test and develop their skills as the squad builds towards the UAE series.
Consistent performances at club, regional and development games have been rewarded with five players (Neill, Sole, Ruthven, English and Greaves) from outside of the contracted group earning the right to step up to the 'A'’s this week."
