Scotland XI to take on North West Dragons in 50 over fixtures

22 Oct

The Scotland XI continues its tour of South Africa with two 50 over fixtures against the North West Dragons starting tomorrow (23/24 October).

Tour captain, Preston Mommsen, will miss the double header after picking up a side strain when fielding.  Coach Steindl said, “It’s a real shame that Preston is going to miss these two fixtures as he’s been hitting the ball really well recently.”

Speaking from their South African base, Steindl believes that it has already been a worth-while trip for the squad “It’s great for me to see this group of guys each working hard, both individually and together, after a tough few weeks with pretty much continuous cricket. The last two days have given us a bit of a break, and we’re looking forward to these next two fixtures.”

Moneeb Iqbal has returned to Scotland after his scheduled stay with the squad came to an end.

The final day of the fixture against the North West Dragons on Friday produced a thrilling encounter with the coach adding, “It was a real good battle, we were convinced we had the final (NWD) batsman caught after nicking the final delivery of the match, but the umpire thought otherwise.”
