Select squad named for MCC match at Forfarshire
Wednesday will see a Scotland Select side entertain the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) in a three-day encounter at Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
A strong side, captained by Preston Mommsen, will take to the field as they prepare themselves for two one day internationals against Afghanistan (July 4/6).
There will be plenty of international experience on-hand for the home side with seven of the squad featuring for Scotland at the ICC World T20 in India in the early stages of 2016.
Brad Wheal will make his return to the side after his international debut against Hong Kong in January. Youngster Ithisham Malik and wicket-keeper Craig Wallace have also been named in the squad after solid performances against Ireland ‘A’ last week in Ayr.
On the announcement of the squad Coach Grant Bradburn commented, “‘With the International fixtures drawing closer, we have chosen a strong Scotland Selection to provide more opportunities for players to push for higher recognition.
The selectors have been impressed with a number of standout performances throughout the club season and Regional series to date. Last week’s A game vs Ireland was a great opportunity for players to gain valuable multi day experience in excellent conditions against strong opposition.
Some new faces come into the frame this coming week at Forthill, but the positive and more ruthless style of play we are wanting to develop won’t change. The three-day form of the game is so valuable in the development of skills across all formats and the Forfarshire CC typically provide quality facilities including an excellent wicket with pace and bounce which will suit our players.’
