South Africa defeat Scots at ICC U19 CWC

Scotland 127 (45.4 overs) Carnegie 29*, Galiem 2/16, lost to South Africa 129/0 (29 overs) Verreynne 69* by 10 wickets [Scorecard] 

Scotland suffered their third defeat at the Under 19 Cricket World Cup on Tuesday against champions South Africa at Cox’s Bazar. 

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first and the Scots soon found themselves in deep trouble, losing four wickets for 33 runs within the first 9 overs. 

The wickets continued to fall as the Scots found the going particularly tough, although Findlay McCreath (24) and Owais Shah (13) tried to stay paitinet, the bowlers were always on top. 

Harris Carnegie top scored with 29 runs but no one could lend the required support as the innings finished in the 46th over with the fall of the final wicket, with the score on 127. 

In reply South Africa showed their class as Liam Smith and Kyle Verreynne set about the target. Both batsman would finish on 64 as Scotland failed to get the breakthrough, ensuring South Africa would win by 10 wickets. 

Scotland will now contest the Plate Quarter Final against New Zealand on Thursday morning.
