Neill takes 5 but the weather wins at Uddingston

20 May

Adrian Neill in action (Donald MacLeod) Adrian Neill produced a fine display of T20 bowling on Thursday in Uddingston as Scotland Development looked to play out two Twenty20 matches, following the completion of their two-day match.

Unfortunately, the weather spoiled the party as the Academy were bowled out for 91, but only 4 deliveries were possible in the Scots’ reply when the heavens opened to end proceedings.

Neill returned with figures of 5/15 from only 3.3 overs, while there were contributions by Cristian Roberston, Hamza Tahir and Itisham Malik, who all claimed a wicket apiece.

At the conclusion of the series coach Toby Bailey said, "It was great to see Scotland's young talent on show in a game situation. Although almost 2/3s of the overs were washed out due to rain in the 3 days, we took every opportunity to gain some valuable experience.

The team did well to get almost 300 and bat for the best part of 80 overs in difficult conditions. To take ten wickets with the last ball of the day on day two, with limited play available, was very pleasing.

I look forward to seeing how the players perform in the up-coming weeks away from the development team."
