Teenager Andrew Umeed yesterday stroked a superb century as Scotland A fought back to take a 1st innings lead in their three-day clash with Gloucestershire at Bristol.
The Uddingston and Warwickshire batsman fended off an experienced county attack to hit a defiant 112 as the Scots declared on 312-7 – thirteen runs ahead of their rivals.
Umeed, just 18, reached his half-century from 121 balls with five boundaries and a six before digging in to record his first senior representative hundred.
He was eventually run out for 112 after a marathon 278-ball knock.
Umeed featured in four half-century partnerships, his best support coming from Richie Berrington, who hit three boundaries and a six in his 38, while George Munsey stroked 37.
Saltires star Safyaan Sharif, on trial with Gloucestershire, was the best of the eight bowlers used by the county, claiming the wickets of Munsey and Hamish Gardiner to finish with 2-33.
The home side had reached 27-0 in their second innings by the close.
