Basic Hours:

20 hours per week on average for 17 weeks

2nd March – 2nd April (5 weeks)

6th April – 17th April (Easter Hols) ( 2 weeks)

20 April – 26th June (10 weeks)


10 hours per week on average for 9 weeks

29th June – 28th August

Basic Salary:

£250 per week for 17, 20 hour weeks (travel inclusive)

£125 per week for 9, 10 hour weeks (travel inclusive)

Opportunity for bonus payments on top

Purpose of the Job

The Community Cricket Coach will work as part of a sport specific team to increase the number of people playing cricket and improve the quality of cricket provision across the authority.  The post holder will be responsible for delivering the outcomes set in the Cricket Development Plan. 

Major Tasks 

Work with the Regional Participation Manager to support local clubs to improve capacity, in particular numbers of coaches and training needs, and to support those clubs in achieving TOP Club accreditation. 

Establish and deliver curricular and extra-curricular cricket opportunities at specified primary school sites with a view to getting them into the local clubs.

Deliver cricket sessions to identified target group in secondary schools based on link club requirements.

Formalise links between schools receiving delivery and feeder cricket clubs to increase the number of people playing junior club cricket.

Identify and support local clubs to establish opportunities for girls to play competitive cricket.

Organise CPD for teachers and volunteers to support the development of cricket opportunities in and out of school.

Support coaches at local clubs through mentoring support appropriate to the individual`s needs.

Actively promote the pathway from school to club at all stages of the programme.

Establish opportunities to give talented cricketers additional training support.

Relevant Qualifications

Minimum Cricket Coach Award (UKCC2) or equivalent.

Must have current PVG Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.

Full UK Compatible Driving Licence (Car not included but required).


Skills/Experience Required 

Minimum 2 years cricket coaching experience or equivalent in a similar sport and activity related area.

Experience in successful partnership working and the ability to identify good practice.

Additional earning opportunities:

Coaching work with Cricket Scotland (£12.50 / £15 hour)
