Wildcats announce squad for double header
The Wildcats are back in action this weekend with games against Derbyshire (25th May at Spondon CC) and Leicestershire (26th May at Empingham CC).
After their first round of fixtures against Northants and Hampshire in the Royal London Women’s One Day Cup, the Wildcats will be looking to put in two strong performances after last season’s encouraging campaign.
The squad welcomes the return of Fiona Urquhart, who has spent the winter playing cricket in Australia, Kirsite Gordon and Samantha Haggo who are having a break from exams at school and university.
Annette Drummond misses out due to work commitments, while Rachel Scholes is continuing her rehabilitation from shoulder surgery.
Kari Carswell is pleased at how the squad is shaping up, “We now have genuine competition for places in our squad and that is really exciting. The girls need to put all their energy into performing on the field and executing their skills to the best of their ability.
We had two decent games last time out, but we were disappointed at some aspects of our game - the girls have been working hard over the past two weeks to put these things right.
It’s good to welcome back Fi, Sam and Kirstie as they all offer something different to the group and gives the squad a good balance. This group of girls are determined and highly motivated to keep on improving, and I’m always looking for the girls to put in big performances, individually and as a team”.
