SCOA - the Scottish Cricket Officials Association - was founded in 2009 to look after the interests of Umpires and Scorers in Scotland. This website has been set up with a view to providing a central point of information on all matters to do with umpiring and scoring in Scottish cricket.

Scottish Cricket Officials Association, in partnership with Cricket Scotland is running a number of courses at introductory level for prospective umpires, players, coaches and club volunteers and Level One courses for those wish to umpire at a higher level, more regularly.

Introduction to Umpiring Course

This introductory course is an interactive two-hour course, which is free to candidates, aimed at those in junior coaching roles, adult playing members and those who wish to start out on the umpiring pathway.  The course syllabus is centred on the key themes of:

No Balls and wides

LBW

Methods of being out

Umpire signals

EDINBURGH

Venue: Carlton Cricket Club, Grange Loan, Edinburgh, EH9 2EE

Date: Wednesday 20th March

Time: 6.30 - 8.30pm

Date: Wednesday 3rd April

Time: 6.30 - 8.30pm

Level One Umpires’ Course

The course is particularly suited to candidates who have already attend an introductory course or who have good knowledge of the laws of cricket and wish to umpire at a higher level.  The cost of this course is £20.

Dates: Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th, Sunday 24th March

Times: 11am – 5pm each day (TBC)
