BRILLIANT BROWN POWERS HERIOTS TO T20 GLORY

Heriot's retained their Men's T20 Scottish Cup crown at Stirling on Sunday, thanks largely to a magnificent batting performance from Lloyd Brown which overwhelmed opponents Clydesdale.

 

Opening batter Brown made an unbeaten 108 from just 66 balls in his team's total of 175-3, as Heriot's emerged victorious against their Glasgow rivals for the second successive year. His innings included 11 fours and 3 sixes, with a run of 6 4 6 6 in the final over of the innings bringing up his century, as the Clydesdale bowling attack was torn to shreds.

 

Clydesdale were unable to muster a challenge in the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals, eventually succumbing to 111 all out as Heriot's triumphed by 64 runs.

 

 

Earlier in the day, both teams had easily disposed of their semifinal opponents. Heriot's produced a tremendous bowling performance to roll Forfarshire over for just 58, with Ryan Brown picking up 3-10 and Mark Watt 2-6 in just three overs, including a maiden.

 

 

Meanwhile RH Corstophine could only manage 86 in their innings against Clydesdale, with Ravi Alavala taking 3-20 and Sahir Hussain 3-14, before Alavala smashed 28 not out and Isaac Rahman an unbeaten 29 to seal the win.

 

 

Clydesdale have the chance for revenge when they and Heriot's meet once again next Sunday in the final of the Men's Scottish Cup. In 2025 the men from Titwood came out on top after a memorable match at Uddingston, and after today's result at Stirling, it promises to be another thrilling encounter between the sides in Arbroath.
