CRICKET SCOTLAND SUPPORTS SCOTTISH WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SPORT WEEK

Cricket Scotland is proud to be supporting a series of events to mark Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, running from 2-8 November.
The national governing body has featured as a case study of excellence in research published by the Women's Sport Trust on Monday - Women's Sport in Scotland: Understanding the Opportunity. Commissioned by the Scottish Government into how people in Scotland engage with women's sport, the research found that 47% of those surveyed feel the success of Scottish female athletes makes them proud, but only 17% feel connected to them.
The research was discussed at the Scottish Women's Sport Symposium on Monday, organised by Active Scotland. Cricket Scotland was invited to discuss the success of its commercial partnership with Toyota, which research shows has created awareness with the public and positive identity with the brand and the sport. Toyota's partnership with Cricket Scotland incorporates All Stars junior programmes, supports the domestic club network as well as the men's and women's international teams.
On Wednesday, Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade joined a discussion panel for the Fearless Women in Sport event at St George's School in Edinburgh.
Trudy joined tennis coach and campaigner Judy Murray OBE, Olympic medallist Eilidh Doyle, Scotland rugby international WP Nel and sports journalist Lorna Husband to analyse the progress and future outlook of women's and girls' sport in Scotland.
The discussions ranged from successes such as the greater visibility of women and girls playing sport, to the importance of role models, male allies and developing pathways, to challenges such as the need for more government funding to sustain continued growth.

The audience of around 300 people included pupils from 10 schools, educators, sports leaders and representatives of the sporting workforce, along with governing bodies and sports organisations including SportsScotland, Cricket Scotland, Netball Scotland, Scottish Cycling, Scottish Gymnastics, Scottish Rowing, Scottish Squash and Volleyball Scotland.
There is more to come in November, with the first ever Cricket Scotland Women and Girls in Sport Day taking place on Saturday 14 November at Westquarter & Redding Cricket Club in Polmont. The day will consist of workshops, discussion topics and an opportunity for players, coaches and volunteers to connect during the off-season, and look ahead to the 2027 season and beyond.
