FIRST MINISTER DELIVERS SCOTLAND SHIRTS TO INDIA
Scotland's First Minister teamed up with Cricket Scotland on his recent trade visit to India, as he presented two Scotland cricket shirts to female athletes.
John Swinney handed over the T20 international shirts, worn on the world stage by Scotland Women during this summer's ICC Women's T20 World Cup, to female athletes involved with the Vijayi Bharat Foundation in Amdavad.
The presentation took place in the spirit of collaboration between Scotland and Amdavad, which will be the host city of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, taking on from Glasgow who hosted the Games this summer. The visit also recognised Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, which is taking place between 2-8 November.
The First Minister later participated in a cricket match against some of the athletes involved with the Foundation, which is committed to developing high performing Indian athletic talent across multiple sports.
During his visit to Gujarat province, Mr Swinney visited the 132,000 capacity Narendra Modi Stadium, the world's largest stadium by capacity and site of the 2023 ICC World Cup final, which will be used during the Games.
