Cricket Scotland believes it’s important to recognise that coach development is a culmination of formal and informal education taken from a vast array of Continuing Personal Development (CPD) opportunities within and outside Cricket and sport.
While the current coach education structure creates opportunities for new coaches to access the game of Cricket, it is also crucial that our programmes re-engage current coaches in learning and development. Cricket Scotland endeavours to offer a range of hybrid learning coach development options and more clearly defined guidance for coaches working in different environments, creating opportunities to learn at all levels for coaches with a mindset to improve continually.
The Coach Mentoring programme has been designed to complement and further support aspiring, enthusiastic and curious coaches who have been through the Cricket Scotland Coach Education courses.
This is a 12 month programme, where mentees will be supported, mentored, challenged and stretched to aid their continued development and confidence as a coach within the Scottish cricket system.
Candidates can apply for the coach mentoring programme using the process outlined below. Please note that there will be a maximum of 10 coaches per cohort each year.
Successful candidates will be provided with bespoke, tailored coach development support by a Cricket Scotland Mentor, working through prioritised areas of the Effective Coaching Framework.
Programme details - Coaches will receive a number of observation and reflection sessions over the course of a year, whilst also receiving online informal mentoring and check-ins.
