Carlton looking to bounce back from T20 loss

Carlton lost the Masterton Trophy T20 final on Thursday evening in dramatic fashion – and they will be hoping to dust themselves down quickly ahead of Saturday’s Eastern Premier League match with Gen!us Grange.

The Grange Loan men looked to be on course to chase down Heriot’s 187-4 in the aforementioned T20 match at Portgower Place with Ali Shah flying on 88 not out heading into the final over of the run chase and his side needing five more to win.

However, Niall Alexander restricted Shah to four runs off the bat and then non-striker Umair Mohammad was run out off the last ball by wicketkeeper Dylan Wilson as Carlton went for the winning run they needed.

They ended up on 187-7 with Shah on 92 not out and it meant that Heriot’s won by having lost fewer wickets.

It is back to league duty for fifth placed Carlton on Saturday as they welcome third placed Grange to Grange Loan.

Carlton won at Arbroath last weekend and for this one have Fraser Burnett, Mohammad and Ally Evans back.

Robbie McGlasham and David Hood join the Grange XI.

Leaders Heriot’s are at home to seventh placed Watsonians.

The Heriot’s XI was set to be confirmed on Friday while the visitors have Tom Pratt, Callum Martin and Jacob Onyekwelu joining their side.

RH Corstorphine moved back into second place with a good win at Watsonians in week 11 and they are at home this time around to eighth placed Stewart’s Melville.

When the sides last met on league duty back in week three, RH Corstorphine won by 37 runs.

Forfarshire have been in excellent form and last Sunday they won the Caledonia T20 finals day too.

The fourth placed side from Broughty Ferry host ninth placed Falkland at Forthill with Aman Bailwal, James Sim, Ryan Watson and Tony Weed joining the home XI.

After a hard fought win over Stoneywood Dyce in week 11, Falkland have Logan Briggs joining a side that is looking to build up some momentum now.

Sixth placed Stoneywood Dyce welcome bottom side Arbroath to People’s Park this time around.

The experienced George Ninan comes in for the home side with Calvin Burnett, Matthew Parker, Pranav Saravanan, Gregor Fraser and Lee Patterson all joining the visiting XI.

Saturday, July 16’s fixtures:

Forfarshire v Falkland (Forthill)

Stoneywood Dyce v Arbroath (People’s Park)

Carlton v Gen!us Grange (Grange Loan)

Heriot’s v Watsonians (Goldenacre)

RH Corstorphine v Stewart’s Melville (Barnton)
