Carlton win ECB Vitality U13’s Scottish Cup

On a day which saw the weather improve as the day advanced, Carlton won the ECB Vitality Under 13 Cup at Inverleith with a strong showing in both their games. It was their second win in a row in the competition.

The semi finals saw Carlton beat Gordonians with a show of batting all the way down the order, despite good bowling from the Aberdeen side. However the Carlton bowling – both pace and spin saw them to a comfortable victory.

In the other semi final Livingston won a tight match with Uddingston, defending 87, with a bit to spare in the end.

Livingston batted first in the Final and after a good start fell to 55 all out; the Carlton spinners took the wickets and strangled the scoring rate as the innings progressed. The Carlton batting set about the task of scoring 56 to win with relish and got home in just under five overs. Carlton’s experience showed through in a very clinical performance but the young Livingston side had much to be proud of across the two games they played.

Gordonians won the third place game passing Uddingston’s score of 87 with just a single wicket down.

All four teams involved played the game in a very positive way and were well supported by their coaches and travelling support comprising parents and friends.

Thanks to CSMOA for providing the officials and to Stewarts Melville for the use of the grounds.
