After a week of glorious sunshine across much of Scotland, there was something inevitable about the weather that greeted the first day of the league season last Saturday. Only one of the ten scheduled top-flight matches in east and west was completed, Stewart’s Melville securing a four-wicket win over Watsonians at Myreside.
The performance of the day came at Nunholm, as Michael English scored the first century of the season in newly-promoted Ayr’s abandoned match against Dumfries, and reporters Gary Heatly and Jake Perry will bring you all the news from there and elsewhere in their first league round-up of the season.
