Ahead of the men’s regional series this month, we are delighted to announce the recruitment of vacant positions in the coaching set-ups of the Western Warriors and Caledonian Highlanders.
Riyaad Henry, son of former South African and Scottish international Omar Henry, takes the position of Head Coach of the Western Warriors while being assisted by Prestwick’s Sachin Choudhary. Henry is currently the head coach of Ferguslie.
Former Scotland international Jan Stander will Head Coach the Caledonian Highlanders and will be assisted by former Sri Lankan First Class Cricketer Harsha Cooray.
Toby Bailey, interim Head of Performance said, “Riyaad knows the Warriors side extremely well after playing a successful role in helping them lift the one-day series last year as a player. He has developed his coaching skills at Ferguslie and has a vast knowledge of the Western cricketing landscape. Sachin has worked with the Warriors before and will support Riyaad.”
“Jan has the developed his coaching skills in the North-East for a number of years. He has the experience of playing international cricket and will be ably assisted by Harsha who has developed a number of players that have featured in Cricket Scotland performance systems in recent times.”
The Eastern Knights will continue to be coached by Stevie Gilmour and Dewald Nel. Gilmour will continue in the role of head coach which he has held since 2018.
The T20 Blitz competition will be held at Clydesdale Cricket Club in preparation for the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later in the year.

11th September – Eastern Knights vs Western Warriors (2 x T20 at Clydesdale Cricket Club)
18th September – Western Warriors vs Caledonian Highlanders (2 x T20 at Clydesdale Cricket Club)
