With the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier less than a month away, the Wildcats begin their ECB Division 2 campaign this weekend with a trip to Farnborough to play Hampshire and Gloucestershire. Scotland Women’s Head Coach Steve Knox names a strong squad led by national captain Kathryn Bryce as their preparations for the tournament in the Netherlands begin to gather pace.
Sarah Bryce finished the fifty-over season at the top of the ECB Division 3 North batting averages, and with added experience to bring in the form of her appearances in the Masterton Trophy for Watsonians the talented wicketkeeper-batsman will be looking to build on what has already been a terrific year.
Off-spinner Lois Wilkinson made it a Wildcat double by topping the bowling averages, too, and after some impressive performances with the bat during the fifty-over campaign the twenty-three-year-old will be keen to add to her all-round credentials.
The same could be said of Katie McGill after her maiden half-century for Wildcats ‘A’, and following an excellent opening weekend in the Women’s Regional Series T20 Blitz in which she scored 45 in the first match and took 4 for 12 in the second, the Eagles captain goes into the weekend in fine form.
Rachel Scholes, too, will be full of confidence after a half-century against the Eagles and will again offer consistency with the ball as the Wildcats look to begin their countdown to the Netherlands strongly.
