Cricket Scotland were pleased to help support partners ScotRail and NetworkRail in raising the profile of Rail Safety Week held during September 25th – October 1st.

Cricket Scotland staff and Scotland Women`s captain Abbi Aitken, attended Roseburn Primary School in Edinburgh to run a fun cricket session based on the Cricket Curriculum for Excellence Programme that ScotRail support. The programme is aimed at helping pupils become more active, learn basic skills, have loads of fun, and learn some basic rail safety messages. Roseburn Primary School was chosen because of its excellent delivery of the programme this year and their proximity to a major rail line.

Cricket Scotland Head of Participation Ian Sandbrook said, `It`s been a fantastic day here at Roseburn Primary School raising the awareness of rail safety week amongst young children. ScotRail and Network have done loads of work to educate local communities about rail safety and we are really pleased to be able to support this initiative. It was brilliant to be able to incorporate our fun `Rail Kwik Facts` into the cricket activity and the beaming smiles and increased knowledge of rail safety were the highlights of the day.`
