Dollar Academy awarded Forty Club Trophy

Dollar Academy have been awarded the Forty Club Trophy (The Henry Grierson Cup) for 2019.

Their performance in their match against the Forty Club (Scotland District) was adjudged best overall in UK. The other schools and teams being considered were QEGS Blackburn, Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, Ermysted’s Grammar School, Worksop College, Castle School Taunton, Lord Wandsworth College, St John’s School Leatherhead, Dover College and the Mumbles CC Colts XI from Wales.

The Forty Club Trophy, originally The Henry Grierson Trophy, is awarded to the school that is adjudged not only to be good at cricket but just as importantly, well turned out, has the highest standards of behaviour both on and off the field, is well led by their captain and plays to the highest standards of sportsmanship.

Dollar Academy, captained by Toby Douglas, ticked all of those boxes. It was a great game to play in according to the players of the Forty Club, the boys gave 100% on the field and were great ambassadors for the school off it.

They won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to go before close of play. Dollar Academy is the third Scottish school to win the award after Glasgow Academy (2004) and Gordonstoun (2006). The Trophy will be presented at the Forty Club Annual Dinner at Lord’s on the 15th November and the presentation of the trophy will be made by MCC President Kumar Sangakkara. Congratulations to Dollar Academy and all those that represented it in the game.
