Regional Qualifying Update

Dumfries won the Borders Regional Qualifying cup on 21st July when they defeated Selkirk at Nunholm.  Batting first Dumfries scored 179 for the loss of 3 wickets. Selkirk could only muster 89 for 9 in reply.

Selkirk had earlier comfortably defeated Kelso in the east final, chasing down 82 for the loss of only 3 wickets inside 13 overs.

Caledonian Region

Forfarshire booked their place in the National Finals day with victory over Arbroath United in the Murgitroyd North finals day at Arbroath on 30th June.

Forfs had earlier defeated Freuchie in the semi-final and Arbroath had overcome Stoneywood Dyce

East of Scotland (Masterton Trophy)

Heriot’s again won the Masterton trophy and will be at Bothwell Castle Policies hoping to defend their 2018 Murgitroyd win.

Having topped the league table, Heriots earned a bye to the final. Their opponents were determined using a format that saw the 3rd place team play the 4th place team. The winners of that tie then played the second placed team and that winner visited Heriots in the grand final.

Stewarts Melville defeated Carlton by 6 wickets with 2 balls to spare to set up a semi final against RH Corstorphine. In a low scoring tight match RHC won by 1 wkt with 4 balls to spare thanks mainly to professional M Saad’s unbeaten 61 chasing down SM’s first innings 89 for 9.

The final itself was rather one sided with Heriots winning by 72 runs having scored 158 for 6 in their 20 overs. Hayes van der Berg finishing 81*

West of Scotland (Rowan Cup)

Clydesdale completed the finalists with a tight win over Poloc managing to defend 108 to ease through by 3 runs. Richie Berrington top scored for Clydesdale with 36, and despite a fine 38 for A Howard and some late hard hitting from Kess Sajjid (24*) it proved to be too much for the Shawholm boys.
