This weekend sees the start of a shift in focus for the women’s game, with T20 now taking priority in the lead up to the World T20 qualifier taking place in Holland in July. The Eagles and the Stormers will clash in a double header at Strathmore Cricket Club, as the women’s regional series continues.

The Stormers will be looking to keep building their momentum, following their comfortable win over the Eagles in the opening game of the season. Becky Glen, Priyanaz Chatterji & Emily Cavender are all on county duty this weekend, meaning Charlotte Dalton has been rewarded with a call up to the squad following strong performances in the Women’s Premier League. Scotland under 17 captain Laura Grant also returns having missed the previous fixture due to exam commitments.

Head coach Ramzan Mohammed isn’t resting on his laurels following their opening victory. “T20 presents a different test for us, and we know the Eagles will be smarting after the first game. We are looking forward to welcoming the new players into the squad, and the challenge that the T20 format will bring.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles will be relying on Sarah Bryce & Katie McGill to continue their good form which she has shown throughout May in the ECB County Championship, as they try to get back to winning ways. Hannah Short is included for the first time, along with Charis Scott who hit her maiden league 50 for Carlton last weekend.

Eagles coach Gordon Allan is excited to bring new players into the squad. “Hannah has a proven track record of performing in both league cricket in Scotland & Australia, and her experience will be invaluable in supporting our young players. Charis has developed well over the winter, and is deserving of her opportunity to step up to this level.”

Stormers: Lorna Jack (capt), Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl, Justine Blake, Charlotte Dalton, Dawn-Marie Armstrong, Ellen Watson, Jess Mills, Lois Wilkinson, Laura Grant, Ailsa Lister, Rachel Scholes

Eagles: Katie McGill (capt), Sarah Bryce, Ruth Willis, Hannah Rainey, Ikra Farooq, Abbi Aitken, Ruth Foulds, Kitty Levenson, Hannah Short, Katherine Fraser, Charis Scott, Catherine Edwards

The games will take place at Strathmore Cricket Club, starting at 11:00 & 15:00 respectively.
