Forfarshire do the treble with Murgitroyd T20 win

Forfarshire claimed their third title of the 2019 season with a five-wicket win over Heriot’s at Dumfries to add the Murgitroyd T20 trophy to their silverware cabinet.

With Heriot’s defeating Dumfries in the first semi-final by 102 runs, Forfarshire came up against the Edinburgh based-outfit in the final thanks to the latter’s eight wicket win in the second semi-final against Clydesdale.

An inspired spell of bowling from Jack Hogarth – returning sensational figures of 6/12 – restricted Heriot’s to 111/10 after 20 overs with Mark Watt (25) and Hayes van der Beg (12) top scoring for the Edinburgh-based outfit.

An unbeaten 55* from Chris Greaves, who a day earlier smashed a century to take Forfarshire to the CS Grand Final trophy, saw Forfarshire reach the target in 19 overs. Michael Shean (3/15) was the pick of the bowlers for Heriot’s, with Elliot Ruthven bagging 2/25.
