Forfarshire CC have drawn some interesting teams in the group stage for next year’s European Cricket League to be held at the La Manga Club in Spain. Clubs from Norway, Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden were drawn alongside the current Murgitroyd Champions in Group B for the first stage of the tournament in June 2021.
After the success of the inaugural tournament held in 2019 at La Manga, the Scottish representatives will take part in a larger tournament for 2021 with 15 team competing to be crowned ECL Champions. Due to COVID, the 2020 edition was postponed however the original T10 format will remain the same.
The opening three weeks feature five teams per group, playing a double round-robin format. The top four teams in each group qualify for Finals Day with the chance to win the group and progress to Finals Week.
Reigning Kings V.O.C. Rotterdam from the Netherlands automatically qualify for Finals Week, accompanied by a select trio of group winners and highest net run rate (NRR) second place finisher from the opening three weeks.
The tournament will run from May 31st until June 25th with matches being streamed live.
