Former SCU President Bill Mann Dies Aged 85

The death has been announced of WM (Bill) Mann earlier last week (17th December) at the age of 85.

A great benefactor to Scottish Cricket, particularly in the west of Scotland, he was Scottish Cricket Union President in 1984. 

Among his many accomplishments was playing a leading role in ultimately successful campaigns to relieve sports clubs from local authority rates burdens and VAT.

Last December, Billy received the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sports, recreation, the arts and charity. 

A service of thanksgiving will be held on Friday 3rd January at St. John’s Renfield Church, Beaconsfield Road, Glasgow G12 0NY at 11.30am to which all are most welcome.   

The reception will be held at the Glasgow Academical Club.
