Players, coaches and spectators from Clydesdale CC, Falkland CC, Grange CC and Gordonians CC gathered at Goldenacre for Finals’ Day in the U16 Scottish Cup. There was an early morning mist – but the sun quickly broke through and everyone was treated to great exhibition of cricket.
In the semi-finals, Grange CC and Falkland CC were victorious. On pitch 1, Grange batted first and scored 158/3, with Jack Jarvis scoring 50* (retired) and Jamie Cairns 43 – before Clydesdale finished 89/8 in reply, with Charlie Peet taking 4 for 4 and Achyut Aniruddha taking 2 for 10.

In the 3/4 play-off match, Clydesdale elected to bat first and scored 114/6 – David Sturgess scored 52* (retired) and Owen Gould provided good support with 24. For Gordonians, Pranav Saravanan took 3 for 6. In the reply, Sourav Singh top scored with 24 and Faizan Rauf took 3 for 14, as Gordonians finished 90/8.
In the final, Falkland batted first and scored 103/5 off their 20 overs. Dan Pearson scored 50* (retired) for Falkland, with Jamie Cairns taking 2 for 22. Grange lost a couple of early wickets but Charlie Peet produced the classic ‘captain’s knock’ as his 44* saw his team home to victory, by 7 wickets.
Congratulations to Grange CC on their victory – and thanks to the groundsman, to the caterer, to the umpires, scorers, coaches and spectators and to the players for putting on a great show.
