Grange capped off a memorable season by securing their first Cricket Scotland Premier League Grand Final title since 2018, at Forthill.

The Edinburgh club, who lost just twice on their way to the Eastern Premier League title, got the better of their western counterparts Ayr, securing a dominant 99 run win.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Tom Foulds’ decision was vindicated as his side racked up an imposing 333-5, in large part thanks to a stunning 140 from Angus Brown at the top of the order.

Ayr, who also lost just twice in a victorious league campaign, got off to a dream start when Scott McElnea removed Harris Carnegie in his second over, caught at slip by Jake Woodhouse.

However, that brought Fin McCreath and Angus Brown together, the pair adding 114 for the second wicket, rarely looking troubled under the beating sun, until the former was undone by Michael English on 42.

Brown, joined by Dylan Budge, would go to his 100 with a stylish cut for four through backward point, letting out a roar as he punched the air in celebration.

After the pair took their side past 200, Budge would fall to Neil Flack for a brisk 28, before McElnea removed Preston Mommsen for just seven.

When McElnea struck again to bring Brown’s mammoth innings to an end, Grange had slipped to 236-5, and Ayr had hauled themselves back into the game with three wickets for just 22 runs.

Enter Jack Jarvis, who struck a scintillating 62 from just 28 balls, finding the boundary with regularity with an array of powerful strokes, which included four sixes.

He was ably assisted by his captain, Tom Foulds, who finished unbeaten on 30, the pair adding an unbroken 99 in 46 balls to take the game away from Ayr, as Grange posted a daunting total of 333.

The Cambusdoon side’s response started brightly, Michael English and Neil Flack laying a fine platform as they saw off the opening salvo from Chris Sole and Dylan Budge.

They had taken the score to 76 when Robbie McGlasham made the breakthrough, finding Michael English’s outside edge as Harris Carnegie took a smart catch behind the stumps.

Neil Flack would fall soon after to Charlie Peet for a well-made 43, leaving Andrew McElnea and Michael Miller to rebuild the innings.

The pair kept their side in the game as they took the score to 131, before Jack Jarvis trapped McElnea in front for 23, which sparked a collapse of four wickets for nine runs.

Hamza Tahir made an entertaining 17 as he took on the Grange attack, but Scott McElnea was running out of partners as Grange hardened their grip on the contest.

McElnea and Jonathan Baines took Ayr past 200, but Baines would fall to Dylan Budge for 16, leaving his side 220-8.

McElnea would reach an excellent, battling 50, finishing unbeaten as Charlie Peet removed the final two wickets, finishing with 3-37, to bowl Ayr out for 234 and seal a memorable end to a memorable season for Grange.
