Heriot’s take on Prestwick in CSL Final

This weekend will see Heriot’s go head-to-head with Prestwick in the Cricket Scotland League winners final at Meikleriggs.

The Goldenacre side secured the Eastern Premiership title after a dramatic day of cricket as Heriot’s pipped Arbroath on the final day, while Prestwick took the honours in the west.

Prestwick will be hoping to be the first side in the west of Scotland to win the CSL Final and will be looking to Sachin Chaudhry and Mitchell Rao to continue their form with the ball.

Prestwick captain Shahzad Shafiq told the Daily Record, “I reckon you will see our best cricket in the league play-off on Saturday when we will be totally relaxed.

This title is the culmination of three years of hard work and we have played the best cricket of any team in the league this season. Three years ago, we stripped back to the basics and fundamentals of the game.”

The runs of Hays van der Berg and wickets of Mark Watt will be key for Heriot’s as they also look to win the season finale for the first time.

Scotland international Mark Watt is looking forward to the challenge, “We’re really looking forward to it, it’s going to be a tough game, they’ve got a few very good players teams in the west are notorious for fighting. We have to carry on doing what we’ve been doing.

We get on well on and off the park and and we want to finish on a high. We’re Hoping that we can make it will be a historic day of for the club.

Meikleriggs will put on a bit of a show and we’re looking forward to a big travelling support and hear Prestwick will be well supported too.”
