inspiresport Scottish Schools Cup Draws Announced

Cricket Scotland today announced the inspiresport schools cup draws for 2023.

In the Boys U15 tournament, last year’s winners GWC face a tricky tie away versus Kelvinside Academy, whilst the first round also drew out two Edinburgh derbies with Stewart’s Melville hosting Edinburgh Academy and Heriots hosting Fettes College.

In the Girls U18, the defending champions Fettes travel across Edinburgh to St Georges and Mary Erskine’s travel west to take on the High School of Glasgow.

The Boys U18 cup has a large entry this year with 16 schools taking part. Last years winners GWC travel north to Glenalmond College, whilst an all Glasgow match sees the High School of Glasgow face Glasgow Academy.

Finals day for the three hardball inspiresport cup competitions will be on Friday 16th June (reserve date Monday 19th), whilst the Girls U15 competition will be hosted during Cricket Scotland’s schools week.

The year’s competitions, sponsored by inspiresport, have attracted the highest number of entering schools to date and all the matches are due to be scored on the CS Live scoring platform.

Cricket Scotland Head of Development Nicola Wilson said “It’s fantastic that we have such a large entry to the Scottish Schools Cup competitions this year and it is particularly pleasing to see more and more schools offering girls cricket.

“We are looking forward to enjoying the finals day events during schools week of cricket in June.”

Steve Butchart, Managing Director of inspiresport said: “It’s our first year supporting the Schools Cup with Cricket Scotland, so we’re excited to be involved.

We obviously wish all the teams participating the very best and hope that everyone has a fantastic time taking part. We have a lot of keen cricketers in our business, so don’t be surprised if you bump into one or two of them at some point on the boundary! It will be great to follow the tournament’s progress and we look forward to attending the finals in June.“
