Scotland’s men made it two out of two in yesterday’s Laserbook Tri-series match versus USA at a sun-drenched Mannofield.
Having won the toss, Scotland elected to bowl first on an excellent wicket, however it was the USA that started strongly with Taylor and Modani reaching 80 until Watt struck with the breakthrough dismissing Taylor LBW in the 16th.
Modani reached his 50 before being caught by Watt off Neil in the 22nd over and at 101/2 it already looked like the crown were in for a thriller. In at four, Jones started confidentially and went on to produce a magnificent unbeaten 123 from 87 balls, pushing the USA to 295 after their 50 overs.
Watt was the pick of the Scottish bowlers with 2 wickets for 39 runs.
Coetzer and Wallace started the chase and reached 72 before Wallace was caught off N Patel and then two over later Scotland were rocked with Coetzer dismissed on 28. Jones and Macleod brought a sense of calm to the situation with Jones 18 nudging Scotland up 133 in the 25th.
MacLeod was on fire and playing with a real sense of purpose hitting five 6’s and nine 4’s on the way to 117, before being dismissed by Taylor in the 46th over.
It was a match winning performance and set the scene for Greaves and Leask to professionally finish off the chase as Scotland reached their target with a six from Leask in the 48th over.
Head Coach Shane Burger was impressed with the team performance against a talented USA side and with Scotland winning their opening two matches, he will be pleased at the momentum building for his side heading into today’s clash with UAE.
Scotland complete their matches in this CWCL2 series on Wednesday faving USA once again.
