There is a busy month of pathway cricket coming up in Scotland.

Firstly, the boys regional under-14 40-overs-a-side competition is set to come to an exciting conclusion at Largo on Sunday, June 9 when the Caledonian Highlanders take on the Western Warriors.

Some cracking cricket has been played in the event to date and it has been great to see so many young players from these two sides and the Eastern Knights putting in match winning and confident performances.

The following day the senior men’s Performance Academy team are on the road to Alnmouth to take on the Northumberland Development squad.

This game will be another chance for up-and-coming players to impress their coach Toby Bailey and Scotland head coach Shane Burger in 50-overs-a-side cricket.

On Sunday, June 16, the best under-16 male players from the Knights and the Highlanders will meet in a 50-overs-a-side contest at Loretto School in Musselburgh.

On Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 the men’s Performance Academy have a feast of cricket to look forward to, taking on EMU in two 50-overs-a-side clashes and then a T20. The games are all at Ayr.

The following week the men’s under-19 national side get their first outings of the summer.

On Tuesday 25 they are on the road to face NUSC and they also play the same opponents on Wednesday 26.

Both of these matches are 50-overs-a-side and, given some of the performances by eligible players in domestic leagues over recent weeks, head coach Cedric English will have a strong pool of talent to pick from for the trip.

Sunday, June 30 sees two pathway games taking place.

The men’s regional development series sees the Highlanders hosting the Warriors at Strathmore (50-overs-a-side) while in the women’s regional under-16 competition the Warriors play the Highlanders in a 30-overs-a-side contest at Clackmannan.

Quite a month of pathway action to look forward to!
